The experiment

Sonar is the only way to see. It is also how it finds you.

You operate HALDEN-4, a deep survey unit, in the total darkness of an abandoned acoustic station. Every ping of the active sonar paints the world in phosphor for a moment — and carries your position into the water.

Stay still and the passive array listens instead: bearings without giving yourself away. Between one ping and the next, small things change. The threat is heard long before it is seen.

  • The sonar is the heart

It is the only way to see, and the way you are found.

  • Silence is a tool

Keep still to learn bearings; keep quiet and it forgets you.

  • Nothing is fully reliable

Between one ping and the next, the station changes in small ways.

  • Tension without jumpscares

The threat is heard and sensed long before it is seen.
